An operator is responsible for performing duties in assigned work areas. This position assures optimum equipment performance by following operating instructions and working with other crew members. Operators monitor, control, and troubleshoot in-situ recovery in the Central Processing Plant process systems and uranium wellfields to ensure the systems are functioning within established limits. Operators perform duties in a safe, productive, and cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with safety, health, environmental, and radiological policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Confer with operator on opposite shift to see what has happened in the last 12 hours.
- Technical knowledge in the area of responsibility.
- Participate in process performance analysis and improvements within areas of responsibility.
- Perform regular Plant walk throughs.
- Do regular wellfield drive and walk throughs.
- Maintain technical databases and log sheets as requested.

- Operators work a rotating shift schedule days only(no night shift). The rotating schedules are established by management and currently are 12-hour days.
- Operators are responsible for providing transportation to and from the Nichols Ranch Mine Site and Operators receive a remote travel allowance.
- Workforce housing is provided for Operators during the off-shift hours of the scheduled workdays.

- Learn the incoming and out-going material process flow.
- Safely and efficiently operate processing circuits.
- Operate and monitor processing systems in the production process, such as pumps, agitated tanks, overhead cranes, augers/conveyors, flow systems and grinding equipment.

A Mill Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment within a mill or manufacturing facility. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and performing repairs to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency. The Mill Mechanic must possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical problems in mill machinery and equipment such as conveyors, rollers, pumps, motors, gears, and other mechanical components.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, inspection of belts and bearings, and replacement of worn parts to ensure equipment operates smoothly and efficiently.
- Execute repairs and replacements of faulty or damaged parts using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Collaborate with production supervisors and operators to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize downtime without compromising safety or quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and inventory of spare parts and supplies.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with potentially hazardous machinery, chemicals, and tools, and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and functionality.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics or apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices to develop their skills and capabilities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements or equipment upgrades to enhance reliability, performance, and productivity.
- Coordinate with external vendors or contractors for specialized repairs, parts procurement, or technical support as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in mechanical engineering, millwright, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a mill mechanic or similar role in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues, with hands-on experience in repairing and maintaining various types of equipment.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including reading schematics and technical manuals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt to changing production demands.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, convey technical information clearly, and provide training or guidance to others.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed, to support maintenance activities and respond to emergencies.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated platforms safely.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established safety procedures and protocols
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:
- Lift up to 25-50 lbs.
- Be available on call to troubleshoot and support the Lab and Mill for all shifts.
- Other non-typical shifts may be required.
- Computer use and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Must be able to mask fit and wear respirator.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather for short periods of time.
